Core Values

  1. Well-being is a birthright for all. I view each client as a whole person who is the expert in their life. I use a person-centred, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach as a coach and counsellor.
  2.  Theoretical frameworks inform my practice, and I only share evidence-based tools and resources.
  3.  I use scientific inquiry and APA referencing in my blog writing. My intention is to share knowledge from academic articles or research to encourage curiousity so readers can practice self-care and seek appropriate help where necessary.
  4.  I believe lived experience is valid, particularly for marginalised communities. For positionality, I am a pakeha sole parent and LGBQTIA+ ally who is non-religious (or an open-minded agnostic).
  5. Wellness is deeply personal and ever evolving so I strive to stay informed of new research, open to learning from others, and observant of trends.
  6. Individuals' relationships with health and well-being can vary based on their race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, sexuality, abilities and experiences of health care. I endeavor to create accessible content that is relevant to a diverse range of people.
  7. I approach wellness from psychological, sociological and ecological views and seek to understand the spiritual connections clients share with the land. We may immerse ourselves in nature during sessions or incorporate it into goal setting.
  8. Community care is self-care. I remain within my scope and collaborate with general practitioners and allied health professionals. With their consent I connect people with third sector and governmental organisations.
  9. Mental health is just as important as physical health. I respect my clients' cultural beliefs and look for opportunities to incorporate indigenous health models that align their values and worldview.
  10. I have a holistic approach to wellness and acknowledge the cultural roots of practices and rituals. I explore different perspectives and creative techniques with clients looking for an alternative to talk therapy. We may experiment with the therapeutic benefits of art, sound and movement.
  11. I offer a sliding-scale for pricing based on household income to make sessions more affordable. It is designed to offer a high-quality personalised coaching/counselling service to all.
