Meet Priya

Therapy Dog in Training

Priya is a small breed: Pomeranian, Maltese and Schi Tzu. Her name, Priya, is of Sanskrit origin; its meaning translates to "taonga" or "treasured". She loves adventures and cuddles, equally happy walking on the leash or curling up on a lap. After establishing therapeutic rapport and expectations, some local clients who prefer to connect in nature may request that Priya join us, especially if they love animals and feel more comfortable being active outdoors.

About Therapy Dogs

Therapy dogs provide comfort and affection to clients. They may help to improve emotional and mental well-being by offering a quiet, calm, non-judgmental presence and companionship during sessions. Just like a good therapist, they treat people with unconditional positive regard and are perhaps even more sensitive to people's needs. Therapy dogs can play a supportive role within the therapy room - or out in nature for animal-assisted therapeutic interventions and activities.
